The town of Andermatt - situated on a beautiful plateau in the Swiss mountains, 1400 meters above sea level - is already a ski destination with 13 ski lifts on the Gotthard Massif in Switzerland. Andermatt Swiss Alps (ASA) is creating a new high-end, comprehensive and self sustainable year-round Alpine resort village that encompasses 1.4 million square meters of land. ASA has a unique concession from the Swiss government which allows the sale of property to foreign persons without requiring a permit. Furthermore, for foreign buyers wishing to obtain a residence permit, it is possible to obtain an attractive residence and flat tax arrangement.
The ASA master plan offers nearly 500 new apartments, some 25 private villas, and six hotels classified as 4 and 5-star properties with a capacity of more than 800 rooms. World-renowned operators will manage the town's hotels, such as General Hotel Management (The Chedi Andermatt) and Rezidor Hotel Group (Radisson Blu Andermatt). Aside from skiing, the destination will feature various leisure facilities including a professional 18-hole golf course (that will offer additional cross-country skiing during the winter), a sports center with all-season leisure pool, and a commercial center for business and shopping.
The developers are using a carbon-free energy supply system for the entire resort by using renewable energy sources. They are positioning ASA as a market leader in contemporary architectural and sustainable development design. In addition, the planned construction podium will provide underground parking for some 2000 cars, reducing air pollution and noise in the town.
During 2010 ASA sold CHF 62,700,000 of pre-construction real estate and had an additional CHF 39,300,000 under reservation (CHF 102 million Sold/Reserved in total).
